After eating Bron’s beautifully delicious Bánh Mì on Sunday my eating hasn’t been as good as it should be. I’m still feeling pretty unmotivated about exercise so it’s not been a great healthful week.
For Sunday evening dinner I was only going to have one fillet of salmon but I ended up cooking two and then felt the need to finish off the packet of rice noodles I had.
It really was delicious but I would have been satisfied with half of what I ate.

On the weather front it’s been a cold clear week. The skies have been clear and beautifully blue. The dryness has made my skin uncomfortable but I cannot deny the beauty of Canberra skies.
My view Monday morning before heading to work
———-
While I was getting my mail from the post office this was the sky. As much as I love Darwin and other tropical locations, you never get such beautiful skies.

I’m loving being able to read more microbiology
Lunch was yoghurt and mixed berry syrup. I wouldn’t call this healthy. It’s sugary goodness.

Monday dinner should have been salmon but I had none left. I did have chicken wings. I also had some red cabbage which I chopped with carrot, spring onion, lime zest, lime juice, basil, mint, coriander, garlic and ginger. The chicken was coated with chilli flakes, sesame seeds, salt, pepper, Chinese five spice and mixed herbs.
It was pretty good

I’m loving an evening tea made with ginger and sugar

The shelf of shame provided me with happiness

I still have no idea what charity I’m supporting when I buy and eat these chocolate bars
Guess which order I ate them in?

There was some really interesting modelling mathematics in this paper

On Tuesday the royal bub was born. Instagram had a meme going on #everydaybaby with everyone posting pictures of themselves as babies or their own babies, so I felt like joining in and posting a picture of myself when I was a baby.
Sorry about the nudity and showing everyone my bum
———-
I’d been out for lunch with senior work colleagues. It wasn’t the place to capture images. I had a big bowl of laksa with char siu which filled me up pretty well so dinner was light.
Chicken Maryland and carrots

Another beautiful blue clear sky on Wednesday morning. It was cool.
———-
I got great presents in the mail that morning. My new hospital parking permit and a CD-ROM for the Australian Medicines Handbook which is a fantastic resource.
———-
Wednesday’s lunch was a lovely sweet potato, spinach and pine nut quiche
Of course it had to be washed down with Bundaberg Ginger beer

One of the great joys of my new role is that I get to do some teaching again. We have Masters of Applied Epidemiology scholars at work and I’m helping them with some clinical microbiology useful for public health.
We were looking and respiratory and genital microbiology. I never claimed to be an artist and I realise proportion is something I’m not good at.

Wednesday was a big day for all sorts of reasons and I just couldn’t be bothered cooking. Takeaway was the word for the evening.
The hamburger was fantastic. It had a mince meat pat tie, bacon, egg, pineapple, beetroot and all the other salad stuff with barbecue sauce. I also had four potato scallops. I need to do another shout out for the Jamison Takeaway. The ladies there are fantastic. If you’re based in Canberra and you want good takeaway food cooked in front of you, I highly recommend the Jamison Takeaway.

This is what I woke up to this morning
This is not fit for human life. I know all my friends in Canada and other northern hemisphere places are laughing at me, but remember, I’m happy when it’s 30 °C with >95% humidity. I wonder about the weather app I use it always reports an abnormally high humidity. Canberra is one of the driest places I’ve lived in. The only place dryer is Alice Springs.

As I ate my porridge (rolled oats) it got colder
———-
Amazingly deep blue sky this morning
———-
So you can see I’m heading down hill in terms of my eating. A big chunky meat pie and chips.
———-
We said goodbye to a work mate who is taking six months leave. I ate more than the image suggests. I work with the best people. They make such delicious food.
The custard in the brandy snap was lovely sweet and runny. The chocolate noodles are fantastic. The chocolate ganache was made with Tim Tams…YUM. The coconut slice was good old fashioned goodness.
———-
So tonight I decided on something light.
Some brown rice, lup cheong, spring onion, an egg and soy sauce
