Okay so it’s been a while since I’ve done one of these food round ups. I’m not limiting myself to this weekend either 😉
Let’s start on Thursday. It was a payday which means lunch has to be a celebration.
If you click on any image it will open up into a higher resolution version which will reveal more detail.
Thursday evening Bron and I went to the Dumpling Inn for dinner.
The Dumpling Inn is a favourite local Chinese restaurant which consistently produces good quality food with friendly albeit quirky service.

Friday morning started with Scrambled eggs, corned beef and some shredded Coon cheese. I named it the TGIF #breakfast
For lunch while I was at the hospital I went for a mixed sushi box. I love wasabi but the wasabi that came with this box was mind blowing. I thought my head would explode when I accidentally put too much on.
For dinner I had a yearning for KFC. I fought the desire all afternoon but as I was driving home I succumbed.
On Saturday morning I wanted to get up early and catch the sun rise. I’ve been finding some photographic inspiration in a local Canberra identity, viz., the Kayak Cameraman. For more information about his he’s recently done an interview with the ABC.
I captured some images of the sky above Lake Ginninderra. These are best seen if you click on them. They should open in a new window and hopefully your browser will optimise the image size for your screen. Let me know what you think. I spend so much time photographing food, non food is more of a challenge.
For breakfast I tried a couple of new things. I read that I could make my bacon crispy and wavy if I rested the streaky bacon over some aluminium foil batons. I also read that I could poach eggs in the microwave oven. I’ve worked out that to get it right for my microwave oven is to go for high power for 37 seconds.
For Saturday night #dinner I went to Bron’s. She mentioned she had a surprise for me. I should mention that earlier in the week I’d mentioned to Bron an article I’d read in the news that Australians are known for ten schnitzel mistakes. We had a good conversation about it and it looks like Bron spent some time thinking about schnitzel during the week.
The other surprise Bron had for me was my birthday gift in addition to taking me to dinner last week.
Bron’s creation is a Wiener Schnitzel made in the shape of Australia. It even has a Tasmania (for non Australian readers, it used to be quite common on television for people to forget to add Tasmania on our map. The secondary fun fact about the map of Tasmania is that the phrase “Map of Tasmania” has become a colloquialism for the appearance of pubic hair covering the human female mons pubis.)
Bron apologises that Queensland has been cut a little short.
Sunday, today in Australia is Mothers Day. I thought I should make myself a special breakfast.
So that’s the weekend. Tonight I cooked a rolled lamb shoulder roast so that I had some meat for lunches.
This afternoon I did some work and then my ironing.
