The Mecca Bah in Canberra

I’ve been to the Mecca Bah a few times but this was the first time with Bron alone.

It’s been a good week at work with lots to do but it was a great feeling to be free on a Friday evening.

We arrived at 7 pm and were shown to our table. It was dark or in Bron’s words atmospheric. The wait staff were all very friendly and helpful.

We agreed on dishes for entrée and main courses.

The menu takes some time to consider. Everything looks so good.

Spicy lamb boureks, filo pastry wrapped parcels with lamb and pine nuts $15

These small parcels packed a pretty good spice kick after you finish chewing. The feeling left on your tongue is very pleasant.

Haloumi

Grilled haloumi with zucchini, roasted capsicum and pomegranate dressing

Who doesn’t like haloumi. These are thinly sliced and the dressing is superb.

Calamari

Moroccan spiced calamari served on a bed of mixed bean salad

This is the best calamari I’ve eaten. It was tender juicy and went so well with the beans and red onion.

Spit roasted lamb thinly sliced and topped with rocket salad and a sprinkling of sumac

The pizza looks deceptively small in the image. It’s quite large. The lamb flavours really comes through in this pizza.

Brownie

Chocolate and Turkish delight brownie with chocolate sauce and vanilla ice cream

This dessert nearly killed me. The brownie is quite large and even though I should have stopped I couldn’t. I had to undo my belt at the table much to Bron’s embarrassment. I would eat this again and again.

I’m sorry about the poor quality of the images. The lighting was quite dark and I needed the glow of the battery operated candle to assist.

I’m happy to recommend the Mecca Bah to anyone in Canberra. It’s easy to find and parking is also easy in the shopping centre car park. I enjoyed a lovely meal with the lovely Bron.

As I mentioned in a recent post I’ve changed my Facebook Page for Yummy Lummy. I’d really appreciate your “Liking” my page at http://facebook.com/YummyLummy Thanks very much.
